Inspection Terms

1. What the inspection is

A visual, non-invasive inspection of the vehicle as found on the inspection date, done on location without a lift. The vehicle is not driven or road tested. You receive a written report with photos by email within 24 hours of the inspection.

Inspections go ahead in the weather on the day. If rain is expected, arrange for the car to be indoors or under cover. Otherwise the inspection is done in the rain, which can limit how much of the paint and body can be assessed.

2. What's not included

• Underbody inspection or anything that requires a lift
• Compression, leak-down or any test that requires taking parts apart
• Removing panels, trim or components
• Smog or emissions testing
• Title, lien or ownership verification
• Any warranty or guarantee of the vehicle's future condition

3. No warranty

The report describes what was seen and tested on the inspection date. It is an opinion, not a guarantee. Problems that are hidden, intermittent, or not accessible without a lift or disassembly may not be found. The decision to buy is yours.

4. Seller access and permission

Before you book, coordinate with the seller (or wherever the vehicle is kept). You are responsible for arranging access to the vehicle and the seller's permission for the inspection. Inspections are booked by date and time slot (8am–12pm or 1–5pm), so the vehicle must be available and accessible for the entire time slot you booked.

• If the seller refuses the inspection, or the vehicle is not available or accessible when Dominic arrives at any time within your booked time slot, the fee is not refunded.

5. Scheduling, rescheduling and cancellations

• Inspections are booked by date and time slot (8am–12pm or 1–5pm), at least 2 days in advance. Dominic arrives at some point within your time slot.
• You can reschedule up to 2 times per booking. Reschedule requests must be made at least 2 days before your inspection date.
• Cancellations must be made at least 2 days before your inspection date and are not refunded. If your plans change, reschedule instead.
• Changes or cancellations made less than 2 days before the inspection date cannot be accepted, and the fee is not refunded.

6. Photos and video

Photos and video taken during the inspection may be used by Purist Spec on social media (including Instagram, TikTok and YouTube), on puristspec.com and in other marketing. License plates and full VINs are hidden, and your name and the seller's personal details are never shown.

7. Payment and service area

The $250 fee is paid in full when you book and covers the service area listed on the Pre-Purchase Inspection page. Inspections outside that area are priced separately by email.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, Purist Spec's total liability for any inspection is limited to the inspection fee you paid.
